Protest Against Taliban’s Mandatory Burqa Rule – Herat, Afghanistan
In response to the Taliban’s new order mandating women to wear the burqa, members of the Institutions of Civil Society and Human Rights of Afghanistan (ICSHRA) in Herat protested by publicly burning burqas.
In a statement, ICSHRA members declared: “Forcing women to wear the burqa is contrary to Islamic, human, and human rights values.” They emphasized that Afghan women have the right to freely participate in society and live with dignity and equality.
The organization called on the international community and global human rights institutions not to remain silent in the face of systematic violations of women’s rights in Afghanistan, and to take immediate and effective action to stop these discriminatory and inhumane practices by the Taliban.
These protests come after the Taliban imposed mandatory burqa wearing for women in Herat province. According to local sources, women without a burqa are prohibited from using taxis or entering medical centers—an action described by women activists as part of an organized policy by the Taliban to completely remove women from public spaces.
اعتراض به دستور تازه طالبان برای اجباری کردن پوشیدن برقع – ولایت هرات، افغانستان
در پی دستور تازه طالبان برای الزام زنان به پوشیدن برقع، اعضای نهادهای جامعه مدنی و حقوق بشری افغانستان (ICSHRA) در ولایت هرات، با آتش زدن برقع، اعتراض خود را نشان دادند.
در بیانیهای، اعضای ICSHRA اعلام کردند: «اجبار زنان به پوشیدن برقع خلاف ارزشهای اسلامی، انسانی و حقوق بشری است.» آنان تأکید کردند که زنان افغانستان حق دارند آزادانه در جامعه حضور یابند و زندگی شرافتمندانه و برابر داشته باشند.
این نهاد از جامعه جهانی و نهادهای بینالمللی خواست تا در برابر نقض سیستماتیک حقوق زنان در افغانستان سکوت نکنند و برای توقف رفتارهای تبعیضآمیز و ضدانسانی طالبان اقدامات فوری و مؤثر انجام دهند.
این اعتراضات پس از آن صورت گرفت که طالبان در ولایت هرات پوشیدن برقع را برای زنان الزامی کردهاند. بهگفته منابع محلی، زنان بدون برقع اجازهی سوار شدن در تاکسیها یا ورود به مراکز درمانی را ندارند؛ اقدامی که به گفته فعالان زن، بخشی از سیاست سازمانیافته طالبان برای حذف کامل زنان از فضای عمومی است.
