A significant two-day meeting titled “Towards Unity and Trust” has commenced in Islamabad, bringing together Afghan civil society activists, women’s rights defenders, and representatives of political parties. The conference aims to strengthen regional cooperation and outline a shared vision for Afghanistan’s political future.

The event has been jointly organized by Women for Afghanistan and the Institute of Strategic Stability of South Asia.

During this gathering, Afghan political and civil representatives are holding discussions and negotiations with their Pakistani counterparts to explore pathways toward regional understanding and future collaboration.

Among the key participants are:

  • Fouzia Kofi, former Member of Parliament,
  • Mustafa Mastour, former Minister of Economy,
  • Nasir Ahmad Andesha, Afghanistan’s former Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva,
  • Ahmadullah Alizi, former Governor of Kabul, and
  • Taher Zahir, former Governor of Bamyan.

This meeting, which had been postponed several times due to Taliban objections, marks a rare moment of dialogue among Afghan political and civil leaders in exile.
