With the arrival of the Taliban terrorist group in Afghanistan, a systemic marginalization of women and civil society activists took place, resulting in the complete erasure of their identities. Women, in particular, have faced gender-based violence, torture, and even killings by the Taliban. During this period, women were deprived of their right to work and study.
We have also been subjected to severe economic and psychological challenges, as well as restrictions on freedom of expression. Today, many of us, including civil society and human rights activists, have sought refuge in countries like Iran and Pakistan. However, these countries’ policies put migrants at risk of forced deportation and a life of uncertainty.
Due to the ongoing economic crisis, some of our members have even been forced into extreme measures, including suicide or selling their organs. We urgently call on human rights organizations, especially the United Nations, to take immediate action regarding the forced deportation of individuals under imminent danger.
Former military personnel, civil society activists, defense lawyers, and judges who face serious threats to their lives have been largely ignored by the United Nations and other humanitarian organizations. These individuals are living in dire conditions, and their plight has not received the attention it deserves.
