Joint Statement Supporting the International Campaign for the Protection of Afghan Journalists in Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey
On 15 August 2025, fifty Afghan civil society organizations, human rights groups, and diaspora networks issued a joint statement in support of the international campaign for the protection of Afghan journalists in Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey. This campaign, initiated on 11 August 2025 by Afghan journalists in collaboration with the Media Support Organization, calls for immediate and effective measures to safeguard the rights, security, and freedom of journalists.
Citing binding and customary international law, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 1951 Refugee Convention and 1967 Protocol, the Convention Against Torture, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and UNESCO’s Declaration on Media Freedom, the signatories demand that host states:
Immediately cease detention, forced deportation, or denial of fundamental rights to Afghan journalists.
Accelerate the processing of asylum claims and facilitate safe relocation for journalists at risk.
Ensure that Afghan journalists can carry out their work freely and without fear of persecution.
The signatories warned that ignoring these journalists’ plight constitutes a violation of freedom of expression, human dignity, and the right to life, as free media is the backbone of democracy, and the protection of journalists guarantees truth, justice, and public awareness.
Signatories include: The Institutions of Civil Society and Human Rights of Afghanistan (ICSHRA) among others.

اعلامیه مشترک حمایت از کارزار بینالمللی حفاظت از خبرنگاران افغان در پاکستان، ایران و ترکیه
در ۱۵ اوت ۲۰۲۵، پنجاه نهاد مدنی، حقوق بشری و شبکههای دیاسپورای افغانستان، با صدور بیانیهای مشترک از کارزار بینالمللی حمایت از خبرنگاران افغان در پاکستان، ایران و ترکیه حمایت کردند. این کارزار که در ۱۱ اوت ۲۰۲۵ به ابتکار خبرنگاران افغان و با همکاری «سازمان حمایت از رسانهها» آغاز شد، خواستار اقدام فوری و مؤثر برای حفاظت از حقوق، امنیت و آزادی خبرنگاران شد.
با استناد به اسناد الزامآور و عرفی حقوق بینالملل، از جمله اعلامیه جهانی حقوق بشر، کنوانسیون پناهندگان ۱۹۵۱ و پروتکل ۱۹۶۷، کنوانسیون علیه شکنجه، میثاق حقوق مدنی و سیاسی، کنوانسیون حقوق کودک و اعلامیه یونسکو درباره آزادی رسانهها، امضاکنندگان خواستار شدند که کشورهای میزبان:
فوراً بازداشت، اخراج اجباری یا محرومیت از حقوق اساسی خبرنگاران افغان را متوقف کنند.
روند بررسی پروندههای پناهندگی را تسریع کرده و امکان اسکان امن برای خبرنگاران در معرض خطر را فراهم کنند.
اطمینان حاصل کنند که خبرنگاران افغان بتوانند بدون ترس از آزار یا پیگرد، به کار خود ادامه دهند.
امضاکنندگان هشدار دادند که بیتوجهی به وضعیت این خبرنگاران، نقض آزادی بیان، کرامت انسانی و حق حیات است؛ زیرا رسانههای آزاد ستون فقرات دموکراسیاند و حفاظت از خبرنگاران، ضامن حقیقت، عدالت و آگاهی عمومی است.
امضاکنندگان شامل: نهادهای جامعه مدنی و حقوق بشری افغانستان (ICSHRA) و سایر نهادها.
