تجمعی اعتراضی توسط اعضای نهادهای جامعه مدنی و حقوق بشری افغانستان در واکنش به اظهارات اخیر خانم خلیلزاد برگزار شد. وی در سفر اخیر خود به افغانستان گفته بود: «زنان افغان از حقوقشان محروم نیستند» — سخنی که با واکنش تند فعالان حقوق زن مواجه گردید.
هدف این تجمع، دفاع از حقوق پایمالشده زنان افغان و محکومیت عادیسازی وضعیت سرکوبشده آنان توسط طالبان بود. شرکتکنندگان تأکید کردند که چنین اظهاراتی حقیقت تلخ زندگی زنان در افغانستان تحت حاکمیت طالبان را نادیده میگیرد.
